Nocturnal Flowers

Jussi Suonikko

Nocturnal Flowers is the debut album by Finnish violinist Jussi Suonikko, composed for the rarely heard octave violin. Rooted in dreamlike improvisation, its warm, atmospheric music evokes flowers unfolding in a nocturnal garden, where familiar things take on new forms. Moving between ambient, contemporary classical, jazz and folk, the album centres on the octave violin’s deep, resonant voice, enriched by Kielo Kärkkäinen’s wordless vocals and Janne Tuomi’s percussion.
